LINEN EXPO - FREE ENTRANCE
21 - 26 May 2025
From 21 to 26 May 2025, the Provinciaal Hof in Bruges will open its doors to the FLAX DNA Expo, a unique exhibition that takes you on a fascinating journey from raw material to finished product. The expo offers an in-depth exploration of the story of flax and its transformation into the iconic textile, linen.
It promises to be an engaging voyage through time, showcasing traditional artisanal techniques of the past alongside the innovative production methods of today. Looking to the future, the exhibition will introduce visitors to hemp, an emerging raw material with which the textile industry is actively experimenting.
Guests will also be surprised and inspired by a collection of modern and unexpected applications of linen. Passionate industry volunteers and knowledgeable experts will be on hand to enthusiastically guide visitors through the exhibition and share their expertise.
Under the artistic and creative direction of Kathleen Claerhout, this expo promises to be not only informative but also visually stunning.
This remarkable initiative by the flax processing industry and related businesses proudly showcases Flanders' industrial heritage in all its splendour. Supported by ABV (Algemeen Belgisch Vlasverbond), the BFLA (Belgian Flax & Linen Association), the Alliance for European Flax-Linen & Hemp, and Fedustria (Belgian federation of the textile, wood, and furniture industries).
